CRiS

The Clinic for Physical and Cognitive Rehabilitation of Nervous System Diseases (CRiS) is established at the Casa di Cura Città di Rovigo nursing home to provide a neuro-rehabilitation service that combines interdisciplinary clinical excellence with educational/training programs aimed at improving the quality of life of people with neurological disabilities and their families/caregivers.

Our mission

Our mission is to ensure that all people with neurological disabilities can achieve and maintain the best possible physical, cognitive and psychological recovery over time.

Clinic

A clinical practice based on a multidisciplinary neuro-rehabilitation approach, aimed at achieving the best possible physical and cognitive recovery and promoting the quality of life of disabled people and their families, is made possible by a rehabilitation team specialized in the management of patients with severe brain and spinal cord injuries.

The clinical services offered include:

  • Outpatient clinic for motor and physical rehabilitation activities
  • Admissions under code 56
  • Admissions under code 75

Telemedicine

Telemedicine (televisits, telemonitoring and telerehabilitation) is offered to subject with physical and/or cognitive deficits in order of achieving a more accurate monitoring of the clinical evolution of disability and ensuring continuity of care to patients both in the short term and in the long term.

Research

CRiS is engaged in developing new protocols of Neurorehabilitation for motor and cognitive neurological deficits, including those based on the most innovative techniques/methodologies involving the use of digital technology as well as the most advanced rehabilitation experiences based on artificial intelligence, semi-immersive virtual reality, robotics and movement analysis.

Training/Scientific dissemination

CRiS organizes 1) refresh and updating courses, seminars and conferences with the participation of leading Italian experts in the field of neurorehabilitation and in collaboration with the Universities of Padua and Verona, 2) training courses on disabling neurological diseases for medical specialists, general practitioners and paramedics, 3) training internships for residents in neurology and physiatry.

How we can help

Neurological diseases are the leading cause of disability worldwide (Global Burden of Diseases 2016 Neurology, Lancet Neurology, 2019, 18: 459-480) and their social-health burden is foreseen to increase progressively in view of the epidemiological trends observed over the last 10 years, which confirm exponential increases in the incidence and prevalence of almost all CNS diseases, not only in the elderly, but also in children and young adults (GBD Reports 2016/1-8) .

In this scenario, CRiS offers rehabilitation treatments for physical and cognitive disabilities caused by acute and chronic neurological diseases, in particular inflammatory diseases of the spinal cord that mainly affect young people, causing severe disabilities that accompany the person throughout their life and generating enormous social costs.

What is neurorehabilitation?

Neuro-rehabilitation is a branch of Neurology that combines neurological and physiatric expertise and aim to achieve the functional recovery of sensory-motor and cognitive deficits in people affected by diseases of the central or peripheral nervous system, in order to improve the patient’s quality of life and facilitate their integration into family as well as social and professional life.

The rehabilitation services offered by CRiS

The social and healthcare scenario in the coming years will be characterized by an increased number of people affected by disabling neurological diseases with tremendous social consequences, in particular an increase in collective disability.

CRiS rehabilitation services are therefore aimed at limiting the growing social costs of physical and cognitive disability caused by neurological diseases, through the timely provision of rehabilitation programmes that aim to improve the quality of life of disabled people and their families. This is made possible by an interdisciplinary team of specialists in neurology and physiatry who are capable of developing personalized programs in collaboration with neuropsychologists, urologists and nurses specialized in the management of patients with severe brain and spinal cord injuries.

CRiS develops and shares therapeutic protocols, including experimental ones, with the major neuro-rehabilitation centers in Northern Italy, and works in collaboration with the Neurology, Neurosurgery and Orthopedic Departments of the Universities and Hospitals located in the Triveneto region.
