Outpatient rehabilitation and physical and cognitive telerehabilitation

Neurorehabilitation is a medical discipline, a branch of neurology, which combines neurological and physiatric expertise. Its goal is the functional recovery of sensory-motor and cognitive deficits in people affected by diseases of the central or peripheral nervous system, in order to improve the patient’s quality of life and facilitate their integration into family, social and professional life.

Physical rehabilitation

CRiS provides rehabilitation care for people with motor, sensory and cognitive deficits due to neurological diseases, with a particular focus on inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system that affect young adults.

In collaboration with the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association, a rehabilitation clinic has been set up which provides personalised tele-rehabilitation programmes (Remote Walking Rehabilitation, Re-Walk) for selected patients.

Cognitive rehabilitation

What is cognitive rehabilitation?

Cognitive rehabilitation is a non-pharmacological therapy aimed at individuals with early cognitive impairment due to neurodegenerative diseases. Cognitive rehabilitation is based on strategies that exploit brain plasticity and residual compensation to counteract and slow down the progression of the disease and reduce the reactive psychopathological component (anxiety, depression) that cognitive impairment inevitably causes.

In collaboration with FiSSPA (Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Applied Psychology) at the University of Padua, CRiS provides two clinics for the assessment of mild cognitive impairment and cognitive rehabilitation:

The best results of cognitive rehabilitation are observed in young patients with high cognitive reserves and minor cerebral connectome deficits.

Cognitive rehabilitation can prevent more severe forms of cognitive decline through intellectual stimulation that activates the compensatory neuronal and cortical network.
