The CDC Città di Rovigo carries out assessment and rehabilitation treatment activities on an ordinary hospitalisation basis, primarily focused on intensive neurological rehabilitation (code 56) and neurorehabilitation (code 75).

Neuro-rehabilitation (Code 75)

The High-Intensity Neuro-Rehabilitation department is dedicated to the physical and cognitive functional recovery of people with acquired neurological diseases (Acquired Brain Injuries, ABI), which have caused damage to the brain and spinal cord and generated motor, sensory, cognitive and behavioural disabilities that can seriously compromise their quality of life.

ABI causes a condition of chronic “fragility” in which disability has a dramatic impact on the quality of life not only of the disabled person, but also of the entire family and caregivers. This translates into a significant increase in the indirect (social and health) costs of neurological diseases and the creation of a growing population of disabled people, which has a negative impact on the country’s socio-economic policies. It is therefore essential to define diagnostic, therapeutic and care pathways (PDTA) that do not overlook the social needs and suffering generated by disability, including that of those who “care” for the patient, family members and the social and working environment surrounding the disabled person.

The CRiS has a dedicated space for family members, where they can share and process their experiences of suffering and receive support from trained professionals (psychologists). At the CRiS, clinical commitment goes hand in hand with scientific commitment, with the aim of introducing new knowledge and updating tools and working methods in a field of neuroscience that is still little studied but constantly evolving.

Meaning of Code 75

Code 75 identifies the rehabilitation activity carried out in patients with acquired brain injuries resulting from severe neurological diseases such as: stroke, brain and spinal trauma, inflammatory brain and spinal diseases (e.g., optic neuromyelitis and multiple sclerosis), and acute polyradiculoneuritis.

Intensive Rehabilitation (Code 56)

The rehabilitation area of the “Casa di Cura Città di Rovigo” offers a variety of activities and treatments aimed at recovering motor, cognitive and sensory functions in patients who have suffered damage to the nervous system, such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases (such as Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis), muscular, joint and skeletal disorders (such as the effects of orthopaedic surgery and disabling fractures), amputations and disabling oncological disorders.

Rehabilitation activities are based on physical, cognitive and behavioural therapies, through individualised and multidisciplinary treatments aimed at optimising and maintaining functional abilities, as well as preventing complications associated with disability-related issues.
