Foundation for Rehabilitation Neuroscience (FNR)

The “Città di Rovigo” Nursing Home is the venue of the Foundation for Rehabilitative Neuroscience, ONLUS, which aims to promote and develop scientific and welfare activities in the area of neurorehabilitation.

The Foundation for Rehabilitative Neuroscience promotes scientific and technological research, as well as the education of qualified professionals, encouraging the exchange of data and scientific results, the access to complex technologies and the development of projects aimed at improving physical and cognitive rehabilitation of individuals suffering from neurological disabilities.

The mission of the foundation

The Foundation for Rehabilitative Neuroscience (FNR) was established with the main goals of:

  1. promoting knowledge and social awareness on the subject of physical and cognitive rehabilitation of disabilities resulting from acute and chronic neurological diseases,
  2. to offer therapeutic rehabilitation to a growing number of people with neurological disabilities.
To achieve these goals, the Foundation

1

promotes scientific and technological research in the field of functional recovery of sensory-motor and cognitive deficits resulting from brain and/or spinal damage caused by acute (e.g., stroke) and chronic (neurodegenerative, e.g., multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease) neurological diseases

2

contributes, in collaboration with the Universities of Veneto (Padua, Verona), to define the most appropriate clinical training of qualified professionals in the field of neurorehabilitation, understood as a medical discipline that arises from the synthesis of knowledge in the neurological, physiatric and psychological disciplines

3

develops clinical projects aimed at
– acquiring epidemiological data on the prevalence of neurological disabilities in the Veneto region,
– testing clinical models for monitoring physical and cognitive deficits in rehabilitated patients, applying the most advanced rehabilitation methodologies (robotics, AI, semi-immersive virtual reality, etc.) in clinical practice

4

promotes accurate and widespread information on disabilities caused by neurological diseases, organizing social, cultural and artistic events, with the involvement of patient associations and the contribution of cultural associations.
